Carina Wise, M.A., LMFT

Carina is a Play Therapist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the Hershey Counseling Center.  Carina earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. 

Carina specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families with a wide range of clinical concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, recent transitions, trauma, divorce issues, ADHD, or school problems. She has training in play therapy, family systems theory, family therapy, expressive arts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Mindfulness.  Carina strives to provide a strength-based and developmentally-appropriate therapeutic environment to all her clients.

In working with children, Carina has a Play Therapy room fully equipped with carefully selected therapeutic play materials such as a sand tray, puppets, paints, and other therapeutic toys and games. She uses a variety of strategies including Directive and Non-Directive Play Therapy, Sand Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts, Parent Skills Training, and Trauma-Focused CBT.

In working with adolescents and young adults, Carina strives to build rapport quickly and focuses on client’s strengths. Carina has extensive experience working with at-risk adolescents and young adults with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse.
