Alana Oravecz, M.S., LCSW - Therapist

Alana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mansfield State College and her Masters in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr Graduate School. In addition to her formal education, Alana has received extensive training and mentoring of Hendrix Imago model for couples counseling, multiple classes and mentoring of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and two years counseling/training in Hakomi Body-Centered therapy.

Alana works with individuals and couples. Her approach is primarily Person-Centered and Wholistic, and she utilizes the Imago model of Harville Hendrix with couples.  She is flexible in her approach and is guided by what each individual client needs. Alana offers adjunct options based on the most effective care in assisting each person to access their particular potential for self -awareness and growth. Safety and respect are core to honoring each person’s wisdom of what resonates as useful for them. Alana provides a safe atmosphere of unconditional positive regard and non-judgment.

Most of us are socialized quite early in life to repress, avoid, or in some way move away from our feelings. We construct walls, barriers, and behaviors as best we can to protect ourselves from the hurts of life. Years of ignoring or just not knowing how to manage our emotional life yields a life with a missing part.

Counseling incorporates aspects of coaching and teaching. Safety and compassion are essential. Her curiosity and relentless inner drive continue to lead her to explore cutting edge modalities to find the most effective methods and tools to empower herself and others towards a better quality of life. Just as technology and science are ever evolving, so must our minds be open to advances in our care of the whole person.

Alana feels privileged and humbled by each person who comes to sit with her to explore their inner world and potential for growth and change.
