Rick is a Master’s Level therapist at the Hershey Counseling Center. He earned his Masters of Social Work from Rutgers University and his B.A. in Sociology and Journalism from Drake University. He has over 15 years’ experience working as a psychotherapist in diverse settings including community mental health, non-profit, and private agencies.
Rick provides counseling services to individuals and couples. His special areas of interest include anxiety, depression, Couples Therapy, stage-of-life challenges, and male concerns/issues. His approach to therapy is Person-Centered and eclectic. His couples work is highly influenced by Susan Johnson. Rick builds rapport quickly and is respectful of ethnic, cultural and gender differences.
In his 16 years in the field, Rick has specialized in mood disorders, anxiety, couples counseling, and male issues/concerns.
Rick’s goal in therapy is to assist clients in gaining a greater understanding of themselves and to provide his clients with tools and skills to allow them to live more fully. He provides an atmosphere of trust and empathy so clients can feel safe to express concerns and issues. Rick utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapies to assist clients in making the changes they desire.
